7 Steps to Get Inspired and Motivated to Reach Your Goals

81

By SusieQ42

Do you lack the motivation and inspiration to reach your goals? Do you begin a project only to drop it within a few days? Do you get bored with the same old routine day after day? There are ways to help inspire and motivate you to get going and work toward reaching your goals. I will going to list them one by one.

1.) Whether your goal is to save money to buy a new car, a new home, or go on that long awaited dream vacation, you can do it. Start with small, easy to reach goals. Lay out your plan of action on paper where you can see it each day. Start at the top of your paper with the ultimate goal as your title. Then list smaller goals to enable you to reach the "ultimate" goal. An example may be to save a small amount of money each time you get paid, then slowly increase it over time. The more you see in your savings, the more motivated you will be to increase that amount.

2.) Next step is to write down your smaller goals on sticky notes, brightly colored ones are preferred. Stick them on your mirrors, your refrigerator, the bed post, and even in your car. Seeing them each day will motivate you to work towards reaching your smaller goals. Don't forget to update them as you reach each one! (try writing inspirational quotes down like the one below too!)

3.) Step 3 is simple, yet requires work! We all have to work for what we want. Each day you put forth the effort to reach your goal you are one step closer to it. I work online as a way to supplement our income, and I keep track of every penny I make. I write down the cash out limit for each site I work for, I write down each and every cent I make, and I keep track of how much more I need to make to reach the limit. It is very exciting when I actually reach my cash out limit and see that money in my checking account! It really inspires me to work harder!

4.) When you're down, take a day off. We're not work horses. We all need a day or two off now and then. I laze around the house, watch a good movie, go out to eat, visit my kids, anything except work on the computer. It also gives me time for a much needed nap! I find that when I get back to work I am more motivated than I was before!

5.) When one thing doesn't work, try something else. There have been several internet sites that I've tried but just didn't work out. It doesn't matter what your goal is, there are bound to be bumps in the road. If one thing doesn't work, try another. Don't get discouraged by the setbacks. Thomas Jefferson didn't invent electricity in a day. As a matter of fact, he failed over a thousand times before finally turning on that light!

6.) I find the best way to get great ideas is by word of mouth or by reading articles or books written by people who have succeeded. I found most of my internet sites that I work for by reading hubs and blogs. You can attend motivational conferences or watch television shows to learn how to stay motivated. These are the people who you want to learn from! They are the ones who have been there. They will inspire you to turn your goal into a reality.

7.) Speaking of other people, in order to stay motivated, surround yourself with positive, optimistic people. Try to stay away from the naysayers. If they can't be an encouragement to you, then you may not want to spend as much time with them as you were. You want cheerleaders, people who say, "you can do it," or "good for you," or "don't give up!" These people are probably the ones who are working toward reaching goals too. They know how important it is to have a cheerleader spurring them on!

Goal setting is becoming more and more popular today and it motivates us to succeed. I wonder if we would be trying so hard to save money, or get into that great college if the economy hadn't taken a turn for the worse? It has served as a way to get us to be more serious in furthering our career to earn more money, it has inspired us to save money, to live a more frugal lifestyle, even to plant our own vegetables! I know when I was working, I wasn't near as serious about my keeping track of my spending. Setting goals to reach your dream is a welcome way to greet the day every day, and I hope you continue to work towards reaching the goals that you've set for yourself. So, get motivated to work on setting and reaching goals that you've set. Be an inspiration to your children by putting your best foot forward.

"Do not settle for less than exactly what you want. Your heart's desires are there for a reason. Chase them. Pursue them relentlessly. Do not lose sight of your goals. They are your very reason for being." ~ Franki Durbinare

recognize any challenges as well as those things that can easily be done. Set small or short-term goals... work to finish those before tackling bigger or long-term goals. Get support. Trust in your ability to accomplish whatever you set out to do.... be realistic and remain optimistic. Manage your stress well through eating well, appropriate sleep and exercise to keep you motivated and from feeling overwhelmed.

Hi Susie. Missed you and Hyphen, been lost in the hurricane. :) Not real sure if I can go with all of the "Get Support" .. sometimes you try that, and they turn on you. I'm glad I normally stay to myself, and will be practicing that more so in the future. Ah, I thought people came together in a catastrophic event, but apparently not in NC. So much for southern hospitality. Will do a hub on it soon. :) Irene was a good motivator to keep doing things myself. :) Love this one. V-up for you!

Goodness, I didn't realize you lived in "Irenes" path! Hope all is okay, no loss, no injuries, probably flooding, though, huh? So sorry! Well, thanks for returning to us whole and healthy! Glad you like this hub. (my family lives in Upstate NY and they lost electricity and had some flooding too) I'll be praying for you! God bless, SusieQ

Hi Susie, my husband and I have a star chart at home. Every month we check off the things on our list that we have achieved and then reward ourselves with a star. It's great to see all the stars build up because it really reminds us that we are successfully working our plan. Thanks for this great hub, I voted it way up!

I love this hub. And the quote by Robert Kennedy 'Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly' just struck me.
