I received an email this morning (Jan. 6, 2012) about a ploy used by gangs to get people to pull over when driving. Then they proceed to rob, rape or even kill them to get what they want. This is a precaution that we all should take note of, especially if we are driving alone. You may have heard of this already or maybe not. Either way, please pass it along to your friends and family!

A woman who was driving alone one night saw a babies car seat on the side of the road. She was tempted to stop and check to see if there was a baby in it but didn't. She kept on driving and when getting to her destination, called the police. They said that gangs are doing this to get people, especially women, to pull over. They are then raped and robbed. The email, put out by the Michigan Law Enforcement said not to even slow down if we see this type of situation when driving, especially on rural roads.

Another caution in the email was about eggs. It said that if you suddenly have eggs thrown at your windshield do not put on your wipers to clean them off. It will result in blinded vision because they smear on your window. Then you are forced to pull over to try to clean them off. Do your best and keep on driving! Gangs are doing this to get drivers to pull over, then they rob and physically assault the driver, or worse...

The third caution in the email said that gangs (and other criminals) are faking a "pull over" by unmarked police cars. If you should suddenly be apprehended by an unmarked police car (light on the top but no marking on the car), don't stop. Instead, call a 112 number that goes directly to the state police. You can then ask if they have an unmarked car working in the area. This was a real life situation where the state police told the person that they didn't have an unmarked car out that night and they told her to go to a gas station that was not far away. The state police sent out 4 police officers. They pulled into the gas station in front of and behind the unmarked car and arrested the driver.

I've forwarded this email about gang activity to my family and friends to alert them about these dangers. Believe it or not kids as young as 10 years old are gang members! I hope that you will forward this message to those you love to warn them about ploys used by gang members! Unfortunately our world is not a safe place to live and we must take necessary precautions to stay safe!

Yes, you are right, but unfortunately there will always be crime, not only in America, but all over the world! We must always be cautious to keep ourselves safe.

Read your information and will be careful on the road.

It's hard not to stop for a police car because if you don't stop what will they do to you if you keep driving. You sometimes have to be as worried about the police because believe me they would be mad if you don't pull over.

If the car is unmarked call the 112 number on your cell phone. Another idea is to stop when you get to a busy area, a store or gas station. This can be worrisome for those who drive alone!

Timely alert Susie. Women and unarmed people should take special notice of these criminal attempts on innocent folk. Good advice on the 112 and pulling over in a gas or convenience store. Will pass on through FB.

Thanks for this useful but scary information. Just goes to show you can never be too suspicious or careful in today's world.

Voted up, useful and interesting.

I appreciate your visit, topoague, Kristine, Alastar and Happy Boomer Nurse! It's too bad that it's gotten to the point where we really can't feel safe going out on the roads alone, especially at night! Take care and God bless!

Good morning, Mljdgulley and Writer. Don't you feel like our freedoms are being taken away from us by the dangers gangs and other criminals cause? We must always be cautious about criminal activity! God bless and be safe!

Great information, I had no idea that these sorts of tricks were being played to cause harm, but I shouldn't be surprised. This reminds me of the headlight scare, where supposedly gangs would drive around with their headlights off and if you signaled them by flashing your lights they would shoot you as some sort of sick initiation rite. I decided recently that I would not worry about that, I'll help whoever the heck I want!

I think it's the same way with these jerks pulled over on the side of the road. Maybe it's time to carry a weapon or a at least a taser and I would say for ladies to never pull over at night unless you can clearly see the driver is harmless.

I love the story about the 112 number, that idiot is going to have the book thrown at him for sure!

Welcome Alexander. It's a scarey world we live in when we can't even feel safe driving alone in our vehicles! I'm sure that these things can happen even if there's more than 1 person in a car. Just be sure to ask the Lord to place His angels round about you and your family when traveling!

Yes, very good article and great way to keep alert to all sort of predatory tactics while driving alone. The days of picking up hitch hikers is long gone and now being a good samaritan can be lethal.

Good Hub!

SusieQ: It may not be Christian to not stop, BUT, it is better to be safe than sorry. The lady did the right thing she kept going till she was safe then notified officials.

Hi Dave. I know what you mean but yes, it is better to be safe than sorry. Especially nowadays when crime seems to be increasing rapidly! Thanks for the visit and God bless you and your family.

Hi, SusieQ42, Right when you think that you are on to all the old tricks, new ones arise. The point that you made about keep driving and use your cell phone to call in suspicious circumstances seems most appropriate. Thanks for sharing, Cred2

Yes, some great tips here. It's a little frightening to think this could actually happen to me while driving alone, esp. at night!
