Killing Me Softly: Don't Die from a Broken Heart
61
Heartaches by the Numbers!
Is your heart open to new opportunities or have you built a shell around it so that you allow no one in? Have you been hurt in a relationship and say, "no way, I've been there; I'm not going there again." If so, you're giving up on the chance to live again! You'll die of loneliness and a broken heart.
Don't do that! Instead why not be open to what the Lord has for you? Come on out of that shell that keeps you from experiencing new opportunities. Live and let live...put the past in the past and move on. It's time to take that step out of your rut. Come out of hiding! We must learn to forgive and then to forget. We don't want to wipe out good memories but we sure can forget the horrible ones. You think that's too hard to do? It really isn't. I've had some pretty terrible memories pop into my mind and I immediately give them over to the Lord. He says, "Let's think about something else." And so I do.
James 1:2 - 4 says, "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
That relationship you were in that caused you such heartache can help you if you think about it. The above verse says to count it all joy when you fall into various trials...it produces patience, therefore, you can be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. I truly believe that there is a time for everything under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 3) A time for laughter, a time for tears. A time to mourn and a time to dance.
Maybe now is the time to receive God's blessings in your life! Pray that the Lord will help you to move on. Then believe that He will. He'll put new people in your life and new rewarding experiences. Sometimes we just have to give life a second chance.
