Special Effects: How to Have a Great Day!
61If you're wondering what special effects has to do with having a great day, keep on reading. This hub probably isn't going to change your life, but it will help. I have five children, all grown now, but I still worry about them and pray for them daily. I believe that I've seen it all. Special effects and no special effects. They each have different kinds of lives, some with spouses and kids and all the problems that go along with it, some without.
Life can be trying at times. I know from experience. Raising kids can often be pretty hairy! There were times that I just wanted to run and hide so I didn't have to deal with all the problems. I wanted to bury my head in the sand, or run away from home! But the special effects were often what kept me from sticking it out. Those bright moments were the ones that gave me hope. I believe that the Lord allows us to experience various trials to test our faith, then after we make it through the blizzard, He gives us joy that comes from special moments that just make our hearts sing!
Special effects are just that. They brighten up even a cloudy day. When the picture looks gray, it only takes a special effect to cheer us on. They come from special visits from a loved one, from a small gift that shows up unexpectedly, from a simple word of thanks, or a hug from a neighbor. Sometimes they come from something we've done to help someone in need! We get that good feeling inside when we've blessed someone with our kindness. You never know when that special joyous moment is going to appear. You just never know...
My special effects appeared just last week! My kids are grown now so my house is pretty quiet. I do, however, have neighbors across the street who have kids. These great kids spent a few hours at my house just before Christmas. We had so much fun! First we painted pictures, covering the kitchen table with newspaper and getting out paint brushes, paint and paper. Then we played the keyboard. I helped them play simple songs, ones that I learned when I first took lessons. Then we moved on to my sewing machine. I pulled out material and we made bags...first a small purse for the youngest girl, then a draw string bag for the oldest. They had never used a sewing machine so I helped them, exhibiting patience I didn't even know I had. When we were done, three or four hours later, we were all tired out. I was worn out and so were they. But they went home happy and I was happy too. We had our joyous moments, our "special effects", I should say.
When we're in need of some "special effects" we must be willing to pick up opportunities that the Lord places in our path. I love to say this because I've been doing it, or trying to do it, for 30 years. I also love to say that we never know what the Lord has up His sleeve. We just never know what He's up to. If you've read some of my other hubs you'll probably read these very words. I'm a firm believer in the Lord and all He has to offer. We are His children and He loves to bless us. His blessings come in many different ways. We may think we know how He is going to bless us, but we should never try to outguess Him. He is full of surprises. "Special effects, I should say...
